BACK THE TAXPAYERS!
Idahoans need tax relief, and now is the ideal time! It must be more than just a pittance.
I worked in government for a long time and I know that countless government sub-entities are constantly competing for resources and trying to increase their budgets. I participated in the budgetary process for my department.
Economies expand and contract but government spending expands and rarely contracts. Budget categories tend to be broad and general rather than specific, so taxpayers don’t really know where the money flows. Government entities have a philosophy of “use it or lose it” so some excess spending is simply to ensure their budget does not get reduced.
Taxpayers deserve better. Now is a time for real tax relief:
• Grocery tax repeal
• Property tax relief
• Income tax relief
Our incomes don’t go up just because grocery costs do! Our paychecks don’t increase just because home values do! And when we earn a better income it does not mean the government has earned a bigger piece of our family’s pie!
BACK THE PARENTS!
Idahoans work hard, take good care of their loved ones, involve themselves in healthy activities and treat their neighbors with respect and kindness. They don’t always have the time to be the watchdogs of everything that goes on at their kids’ schools.
Parents know the teachers are excellent, but many policies get handed down from Washington D.C., or entities and people that do not know the children or work with them directly “on the front lines” like their teachers do. Parents deserve easy access to information about curriculum, sex education and medical issues addressed in the schools so they can make informed decisions on behalf of their children.
• To have a voice in school curriculum
• To make medical decisions for their kids
• To have school choice
Many parents are appalled when they finally learn of some of the curriculum content their kids have been exposed to long before the parents find out, and how difficult it can be to have their voices heard in order to effect a change in curriculum. Many are upset by the trend toward reducing requirements for parental consent or even awareness of the medical information and decisions with which their minor child is confronted.
With regard to education, medical decisions and so many other complex issues of life, the “one size fits all” mandate does not work. All individuals are unique. People need choice. Including school choice.
BACK THE BLUE!
Back the Blue for everyone’s safety! We back all first-responders who run toward a crisis to save lives and resolve major difficulties. We recognize first-responders have very difficult jobs and the vast majority perform professionally, consistently working within the law, agency policies and their training.
Police need to be held accountable for egregious mistakes, but I have seen firsthand that most police officers have an amazing amount of patience and make every good-faith effort to do what is legally and morally right.
I was fortunate to work for twenty-three years as a police officer with a very professional agency which enforced the laws with initiative, compassion for victims and a willingness to investigate and discipline their own when mistakes were made.
During my years in Idaho I’ve seen the same professionalism demonstrated by law enforcement agencies here. We’ve all been made aware of the ridiculous hands-off approach some politicians in other states have taken toward violent protestors who riot, loot and burn cities. Some politicians call for defunding the police and replacing them with social workers. Such non-sense!
• Resources for first-responders!
• Fund the police!
• Liberty with law and order!
Not only was I a career police officer but also a peace officer. I’ve been a peacemaker and a bridge builder between opposing parties. Never sacrificing principles, conscience or commitments, I nevertheless work well with people of differing views. I can’t be bought, and I am beholden to no one except my District 15 neighbors who vote me into office.
